In this workshop teachers will discuss and design a curriculum that is culturally relevant and historically responsive. Using the research of Gloria Ladson-Billings, Gholdy Muhammad, as well as teachers' experiences in the classroom we will together create unit and/or lesson plans that reflect the cultural background and lives of our students. Teachers are asked to come to the workshop with a lesson or unit that they feel lacks cultural relevance or that they feel can be improved for the sake of their students. This workshop is for all middle and high school science teachers across all disciplines.
