Concussions in Football - An Example of Phenomena-Based Unit Design for Physics

Presenter: Joseph Seabloom, Chicago Public Schools

Anchoring science units in real-world phenomena can be an effective strategy for building student engagement. In this session, we will explore a physics unit that leverages the phenomenon of concussions and CTE in football as a lens to build student understanding of momentum, force, and impulse. Non-physics teachers are welcome to join as well, and explore ways to design phenomena-based units for other science classes!
