An interactive workshop about stagecraft

Saturday, March 5th, 2022, 9:30am - 12:00pm

The Goodman Theatre in Chicago, IL

You may not realize it but the magic of theater would be impossible without science. Would WICKED be as exciting if Elphaba didn’t levitate? How could PETER PAN take Wendy away if he couldn’t fly?

Join us Saturday, March 5th, to experience Stage Chemistry, Goodman Theatre’s FREE interactive workshop that explores how science, technology, engineering and math make the magic of theatre possible. Stage Chemistry is based in Next Generation Science Standards and introduces teachers and students to STEM principles of technical theater. Come see the stagecraft behind The Goodman Theatre's production of The Notebooks of Leonardo Da Vinci. Attendees will receive vouchers to see the performance at the time of their choice, 5 CEUs, and will be paid for their time. There is a short application to attend. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by March 1.

Apply Today!

Applications due February 28, 2022.

Original Stage Chemistry workshops are created for each production in the School Matinee Series, and are offered free for participating schools. Past lessons include “Testing the Waters,” an examination of water contamination for An Enemy of the People, “Actors in Flight,” the science of simple machines for A Christmas Carol, and “The Soundproof Box”, an experiment based on the soundproofing of the Goodman’s Owen Theatre.
