Time: 5:00pm - 7:30pm

Facilitator: Mary ClarkWhitney M. Young Magnet High School

Join us for a fun evening and learn to teach both photosynthesis and cellular respiration simultaneously in a single lab! The Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration Lab is a fun, easy to use, and more reliable alternative to the leaf disk and microrespirometer labs. Use novel algae beads to help you dispel the common student misconception that plants do only photosynthesis, and only animals do cellular respiration. Students will explore both photosynthesis and cellular respiration in a single organism (an alga) using a simple colorimetric assay to yield qualitative and/or quantitative results.

This workshop is perfect for teachers of General Biology, AP Biology, Environmental Science, or Biotechnology students.

We'll have pizza and drinks, and will be giving away a free kit and other goodies!

This workshop is presented in conjunction with Bio-Rad.
